Modu-Heroes | Justin and Tyler

February 7, 2020

Imagine this: you walk into a fast food restaurant to pick up something to eat before you hit the road, and you leave a hero. That was the case for Justin Stewart and Tyler Harvey, two Fence Guys from London, Ontario. It all started when they overhead one restaurant employee say to another, “I think he fell”.

“I didn’t think they reacted the way they should have,” says Justin. Concerned that a potentially dangerous situation was being mismanaged, Justin and Tyler walked around the corner and saw a man laying on the floor between two tables. People were just standing around the man, uncertain what to do. So Justin crouched beside him and asked a few questions to see if he was still responsive, then directed an employee to call 911. He also turned the man on his side, because he mentioned he was feeling sick. Justin gave him a damp cloth because he had broken out into a cold sweat. Justin and Tyler waited with the man until EMS arrived to make sure there wasn’t any further progression in his condition.

In a situation like this, most of us would like to think we would step up to the plate. We all know that helping others in need is the right thing to do. However, people often feel overwhelmed under the pressure, or aren’t sure how to help. Many of us might have just stood by, hoping someone else would step in and know what to do. Had Justin and Tyler not been there to step in when others wouldn’t, this story might have had a very different ending.

Kudos to Modu-Heroes Justin and Tyler for their quick thinking. They truly embody our core values of Family & Well-being, and Safety & Accountability.
