Modu-Loc Named a Best Managed Company for Sixth Year

March 7, 2019

We are thrilled to announce that Modu-Loc has once again requalified for the Canada’s Best Managed Companies program. This marks the sixth consecutive year that Modu-Loc has been named a Best Managed company. Modu-Loc first qualified for Best Managed status in 2013, and became a Gold Standard winner in 2017.

This year’s award application focused on three key areas: organizational adaptability, innovation, and employee engagement. We were able to demonstrate adaptability through our product line-up, which has seen some changes to address the needs of our construction customers – who represent an increasingly large chunk of our business. This includes a new partnership agreement with Echo Barrier, the UK-based producer of modular noise mitigation panels.

Our continued commitment to innovation was proven by the introduction of some new products, as well as new back-end systems. Our engineered fence on jersey barrier system saw some design improvements last year, and we began rolling out a redesigned wind brace that is sturdier and easier to install. We also introduced our customer portal, which enables clients to view, print, and pay invoices online. Finally, we launched Sign & Rent, our digital delivery system – which has significantly improved back-end processes and allowed us to eliminate paper forms.

Finally, we were able to share many great examples of internal initiatives meant to drive engagement and improve employee retention. The introduction of our Employee Recognition Program, expansion of extracurricular training and development programs, and establishment of an employee awards program were just some of the ways we were able to demonstrate our commitment to our team members.

Of course, none of this would be possible without the vision and hard work of our team members. We must recognize that we could not have earned this prestigious award without the unwavering dedication and efforts of all of our employees at each of our depots across Canada. The Best Managed designation reflects the contributions of each and every Modu-Loc team member who lives and breathes our Core Values every day.

Thank you to all of our employees for their hard work, devotion, ingenuity, and eagerness to go the extra mile. These qualities are not only acknowledged and appreciated by all of us at Modu-Loc, but also by our customers, partners, and the Deloitte judges who deemed us worthy of the Best Managed title!

About Canada’s Best Managed Companies
Canada’s Best Managed Companies continues to be the mark of excellence for Canadian-owned and managed companies with revenues over $15 million. Every year since the launch of the program in 1993, hundreds of entrepreneurial companies have competed for this designation in a rigorous and independent process that evaluates their management skills and practices.

The awards are granted on four levels:

1) Canada’s Best Managed Companies new winner (one of the new winners selected each year);

2) Canada’s Best Managed Companies winner (award recipients that have re-applied and successfully retained their Best Managed designation for two additional years, subject to annual operational and financial review);

3) Gold Standard winner (after three consecutive years of maintaining their Best Managed status, these winners have demonstrated their commitment to the program and successfully retained their award for 4-6 consecutive years);

4) Platinum Club member (winners that have maintained their Best Managed status for seven years or more).

Program sponsors are Deloitte, CIBC, Canadian Business, Smith School of Business, TMX Group and MacKay CEO Forums. For further information, visit www.bestmanagedcompanies.ca.
